Home Made Taco Seasoning

I just recently learned that the taco seasoning packets that you buy at the store have something nasty in them.  I’m not one who is gaga over organic this and that, BUT I draw the line at this. Silica granules, ground up, into the packets to keep them shelf stable longer. Um, gross.  That is all it took for me to make the switch.

I found this recipe over at Smashed Peas & Carrots. I doubled her recipe, because we do A LOT of mexican nights.

Homemade Taco Seasoning:

1/2 cup Chili powder

3 tsp Onion powder

3 tsp Garlic powder

3 tsp Cumin

3 tsp Oregano

1 tsp Paprika

2 tsp Salt

2 tsp Pepper

Mix all ingredients.  Keep in an airtight container for up to 6 months.  Add 2 tbs per pound of meat.

This worked perfectly for me because I just measured, dumped, shook, and stored.  Easy peasy.
